GOSPEL: Luke 17:20-21

Reading:
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:   Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Commentary:
This Kingdom of God is His Kingdom of Grace which is invisible.  Wherever the Gospel and Sacraments are preached and used, there is God's Invisible Church which cannot be seen with the eye (for faith is within).  This True Church on earth then cannot be seen, and that is why it "cometh not with observation."  Hence there is no future millennial kingdom where Christ visibly reigns on earth, but on earth His Church lives in a vale of tears.  The Church then is always hidden under the cross, but the cross leads to glory.  Therefore dear Christian, do not look for heaven on earth as many do, and thus be led astray, for "we must through MUCH tribulation, enter into the Kingdom of God".  Because of Jesus, they that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
