Reading:
I
thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by
Jesus Christ; That in every thing ye are enriched by
him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; Even as the testimony of
Christ was confirmed in you: So that ye come behind in no gift;
waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you
unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus
Christ. God is faithful, by whom ye
were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Commentary:
We always have good reason to be thankful in our
hearts to God daily, for the knowledge His Spirit has given us, namely
knowledge of the Word. When we keep His
Word before our eyes in life, and also often ponder His Word in our heart, the
Spirit will indeed bless us and help us to grow in the knowledge of God's grace
and blessing. Learn to be very thankful
then dear child of God, for the saving knowledge He has given you by faith, and
by no mean allow that knowledge to slip away by the distractions and cares of
this world. Study your catechism
daily. Study His Word daily. Study His doctrine, His commandments, His
Gospel. Study the words of Jesus Christ,
your own dear Savior who laid down His life to redeem your soul from hell and
the devil. Never be satisfied with your
knowledge of the Scriptures, but always consider yourself a child of God's
saving Word. Thanks be to God we have
His promise here that He will "confirm us unto the end" that we may
be blameless on the Day of Judgment.
Thanks be to God our blamelessness comes from Christ Jesus, through Whom
God counts us blameless. Thanks be to
God, that "God
is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus
Christ our Lord."
